The Tasmanian Sexual Health Service has introduced a rapid HIV testing outreach clinic which is being rolled out from 11 July 2014.

The aim of the free clinic is to address the barriers around why at-risk men who have sex with men may not present for HIV testing. Some of the barriers include not wanting to visit a sexual health clinic or wait one week for test results.

The private outreach clinic runs every Friday morning in southern Tasmania. To make an appointment or find out more, please phone 1800 675 859 or (03) 6233 3557.

What is a rapid HIV testing?

  • Finger prick screening test
  • Result within 20 minutes
  • Positive screening tests must be confirmed by a blood test
