Zoledronic Acid Infusion Service

The Rheumatology Service is offering a Direct Access Zoledronic Acid Infusion Service for those patients who cannot or should not have this infusion in the general practice setting.

The service is offered through the Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC) and requires a referral letter with medical history and indications, pre-infusion investigations and the patient must bring their Zoledronic Acid with them having been provided with the script by the referrer.

The process:

  • Patient identified as requiring Zoledronic Acid infusion

  • Appropriate investigations conducted, relevant vitamin and mineral imbalances corrected
  • Informed consent gained

  • Referral with indications and relevant medical history provided (see template)
  • Script provided

  • RHH contacts patient to arrange time and date

  • RHH informs referrer of completed infusion
